Police bust burglary syndicate, buyer of stolen goods


A burglary syndicate suspected to be responsible for looting homes and shops within Katsina metropolis has been arrested by a team of police detectives in the city.


While parading the suspects at the Katsina Force headquarter on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, SP Gambo Isah, gave the names of the arrested members as: Kamala Abdullahi 18, (aka Dan Small) of Yammawa Quarters, Katsina, Usman Hamisu 20, (aka Dan Ussy) of Tudun Yan Lihidda Quarters, Katsina, Muhammadu Abubakar 21, (alias Sarauta) of Rafukka Quarters, Katsina and Aminu Salisu 23 of Jibia LGA, Katsina.


According to SP Gambo, the suspects were arrested at a criminal hideout while preparing to go out for their nefarious acts.


The PPRO further disclosed that the following exhibits were recovered in their possession in the course of investigation: an iron dagger, one machete, one hammer, and two Knives


The suspects while fielding questions from the press members confessed to the commission of the offence and mentioned one Sabi’u Salisu alias “DUNA”, ‘m’, 35 years of Kofar Sauri Quarters, as the receiver of the proceeds of their theft.


Upon the arrest of the suspect, a search was conducted in his residence where the following exhibits were recovered in his possession: 4 iron doors, provision stuff, one mattress,20 sheep, 25 bags of pepper, one generator, one bundle of roofing sheets.
