President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has restated its
resolve to effect recommendations by the committees on Oronsaye’s Whitepaper.
Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR),
Dasuki Arabi, spoke on Sunday at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum.
The whitepaper proposed the reduction and restructuring of
hundreds of Federal Government agencies.
Two sub-committees on Restructuring and Rationalisation of
Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies and Commissions were formed recently.
Arabi, a committee member, confirmed that the government was
keen on implementing the reports.
The official noted that the most difficult thing to drive is
change because there are “lots of implications”.
“Government needs to be careful, especially looking at our
size, our diversity, and the issues we are facing as a nation.
“The report was submitted to the Federal Government on
Tuesday and will be transmitted to the president for his consideration and
directives”, he said.
