LaLiga: Morata close to completing shock move to Barcelona

Alvaro Morata is on the verge of returning to Spain to join Barcelona, according to Deportivo Mundo.

The ex-Real Madrid striker is being tipped to return to LaLiga and sign for the Catalans initially on loan.

Morata currently plays for Juventus, where he is on loan from Atletico Madrid, who he joined from Chelsea in July 2020 for a deal worth £58 million.

However, Barca are close to landing Morata this month with the transfer “95% complete”.

It is believed “a total agreement has already been reached with Juventus for the player’s loan for the next six months, as well as an agreement with Atletico to execute a future purchase option.”

The fact that Atletico still have outstanding money from Barca for the purchase of Antoine Griezmann would also play a part in the transfer, with Xavi Hernandez’s side taking over Morata instead.

Xavi is confident he can already count on Morata for the Super Cup match against rivals Real Madrid on January 12.
