Tonto Dikeh calls for commemoration of Sylvester’s 12th birthday at Dowen College premises

The death of a student of Dowen College in Lagos, Sylvester Oromoni, has sparked agitations from Nigerian celebrities.

Oromoni, who was supposed to clock 12 today (Saturday), died under controversial circumstances surrounding bullying and battery.

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, has called for the commemoration of Sylvester Oromoni’s 12th birthday at Dowen College premises in Lagos.

The actress took to her Instagram story, saying, “I woke up with so much pain. How do you lose a child in a safe zone and whose birthday is today? Sending love and light to Master Sylvester’s family and loved ones. Happy birthday young champ, we promise you justice. #justiceforslyvester.”

She added, “@dowencollegelagos, we will be leaving flowers and gifts outside your gate. Because today is a child’s birthday that died under your care!

“Please, if you are in Lagos, leave a little gift and prayer at the gate of Dowen College. Thanks.”

Addressing the school, she said, “The crime was a horrible one but you have made it even more horrendous by lying to our faces or just plain ignorant of the affairs of your kids! Whichever way, we caught you and we need justice.”

Reports had emerged that Oromoni was bullied and beaten by fellow students. The supposed injuries from the beating led to his death, according to a Twitter user with the handle @perrisonoromoni, who claimed to be the boy’s cousin.

However, in a statement on Wednesday, the school denied all allegations stating that Oromoni was neither bullied nor beaten but only complained of hip pain after playing football.

Contrary to the school’s statement, the victim’s cousin rolled out photos and video evidence, which corroborated the fact that the child was bullied and beaten; an action that led to his death.

Celebrities and Nigerians on social media has demanded justice for the late Sylvester and has rolled out the hashtag #justiceforsylvester to voice out their agitations.
