Ace broadcaster Piers Morgan has slammed Arsenal boss, Mikel
Arteta’s decision to strip Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the club’s captaincy as
shameful and disgusting.
Arsenal confirmed on Tuesday that Aubameyang will no longer
be the Gunners captain after his ‘latest disciplinary breach’.
The Gabon international will not be selected for action in
their Premier League encounter with West Ham on Wednesday, according to Arteta.
Aubameyang joined the Gunners in 2018 in a £56 million move
from Borussia Dortmund.
The former Gunners captain was accused of a disciplinary
breach after he was given permission to go abroad on Wednesday morning to bring
his sick mum back to England.
However, it had been agreed that the striker would return
later that evening to ensure he would be ready to train on Thursday.
But TV presenter and Gunners fan Morgan said Arteta’s
decision was ‘shameful’ and described the club’s treatment of Aubameyang as
‘disgusting’.
“Shameful decision by Arteta,” Morgan tweeted after
Arsenal’s announcement.
“What a disgusting way to treat a man who went – with the
club’s full knowledge and permission – to help his sick mother.”
