EPL: Man Utd forward told he is ‘killing his career’ under Rangnick

Football pundit, Frank McAvennie, has questioned Jesse Lingard’s decision to remain at Manchester United.

Lingard spent last season on loan at West Ham, but returned to Old Trafford this summer.

The England international, who is now into his final months of his contract, is now expected to leave the club next year, after playing just 87 minutes of league action this campaign.

Ralf Rangnick’s arrival is believed to be instrumental in Lingard’s decision to stay and fight for his place in the last six months of his contract.

However, Lingard’s decision has been criticized by McAvennie.

“I really don’t get that (Lingard’s decision to stay). He went to West Ham last year and set the world on fire, he was brilliant. He’s barely played this season and he wants to stay? I just don’t get that.

“He’s killing his career. Why would you not want to go and join another club and score goals again? You can’t tell me he’s happy being sat on the bench. He can’t be.

“I’m sorry, I just don’t get this at all. He is not going to play ahead of (Cristiano) Ronaldo, is he?

“It’s crazy. It makes no sense to me, I don’t understand what he’s doing,” McAvennie told Football Insider.
