A Chief Imam, Aminu Garba, who was preparing to lead Juma’at congregational prayer at Gatawa village in Sabon Brini local government of Sokoto State has been kidnapped, alongside ten (10) others.

According to a source, the Imam was kidnapped together with three others on Friday.

The source explained that the assailants shot three persons and kidnapped seven others as they (assailants) blocked the Sabon Brini-Gatawa road on Saturday.

A member of the State House of Assembly representing Sabon Birni South Constituency, Sa’idu Ibrahim, who confirmed the incident, explained that those injured are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Wamakko.

According to the House member, another woman that was shot at Dama village, had her leg amputated because it could not be fixed.

The Sokoto Police PPRO, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, when contacted, promised to find out and get back but could not up to the time of filing the report.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had on Friday given assurance to deal with the bandits when a Nigerian government delegation paid a visit to Governor Aminu Tambuwal over the killing of 23 travellers by suspected bandits.
