Anambra APC stalwarts affirm Uba as party leader

Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State on Friday night rose from a meeting and affirmed Senator Andy Uba as the leader of the state chapter of the party.

The leaders of the party made this disclosure in a communique issued at the end of a meeting held in Abuja.

The communique was signed by the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of APC in the state, Chief Basil Ejidike.

Recall that Uba was the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the just concluded election in the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the meeting was attended by Andy Uba, his deputy, Barrister Emeka Okafor, Senators Ik Obiora and Emma Anosike, Linda Ikpeazu, Vincent Ofumelu, Chidi Duru, Chiedu Eluemunor, Jerry Ugokwe, Ralph Okeke, Fort Dike, Chuma Nzeribe, Afam Ogene, Chizor Obidigwe and Peter Madubueze.

Others were former speakers, Anambra State House of Assembly, Ben Chuks Nwosu and Chinwe Nwaebeli; Ebele Obi and Lawrence Ezeudu,

Also in attendance were former Minister of Transportation, John Emeka; former National Auditor, Paul Chukwuma; Zonal Youth Leader, Olisaemeka Onyeka; and the state chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike.

Ejidike, in the communique made available to DAILY POST on Saturday, noted that he convened the meeting in accordance with Section 12.9 of the constitution of the party.

He explained that the decision was in tandem with the standing paradigm that the current gubernatorial candidate of the party becomes the leader of the party in the state.

He said that: “The caucus approved a preparation status for the forthcoming State Congress. The caucus cautioned that the forthcoming congresses in Anambra State must conform to democratic principles that are free, fair and credible.

“The caucus approved the constitution of two committees, Anambra State APC Disciplinary Committee and Anambra State 2021 Congress Preparation and Sensitization Committee.

“The caucus frowned at the inability of the Party to win a single Election since inception (2013-till date) and stated that all that is necessary be done to put the Party in winning ways.

“The caucus, therefore, urged the Leader of the party, Sen Andy Uba, to strengthen the party, anchored on the tenets of democracy, the Constitution of APC and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
