Nnamdi Kanu fighting for us, not himself, must be released – Mbaka

The Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has commended the Indigenous People of Biafra for cancelling Mondays sit-at-home in the South-East, saying it was becoming a problem instead of a solution.

The priest also warned the Federal Government not to allow anything to happen to IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is in the custody of the Department of State Services, noting that should anything untoward happened to him there would be more trouble for the country.

He said Kanu is fighting for the South East and not for himself.

Mbaka, who gave the warning during his Sunday homily, added that Kanu should be released immediate.

He said, “The situation is better imagined should he die in custody of the Department of State Services.”

Mbaka added, “I commend IPOB for calling off its Monday sit-at-home protest because the danger of the order is becoming a problem instead of a solution.

“The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is expressing his empathy with the people of the South-East over what they are passing through. He will not wish that suffering to continue. Therefore, nobody should stop anybody from going to his or her business any Monday.

“All of us should keep praying for his release and work towards his freedom because if he dies inside that place, it will cause more trouble. If he comes out, he will come out as a hero.”

Sit-at-home stops in Imo

For the first time in two months, many residents of Imo State onMonday carried out their normal daily business activities unhindered as the observation of sit-at-home stopped in the state.

While vehicles, tricycles and okada riders flooded the roads, business centres, filling stations, markets, popular eatery joints, artisans and the hospitality industry boomed with activities.

However, armed policemen still patrolled some of the major roads within the Owerri metropolis.

This is in addition to the helicopter of the Nigerian Police Force that hovered over the city.

A roadside artisan in the Orsu Local Government Area, who gave his name simply as Nwachinemere, lauded the new development, adding, “Sitting at home can never be the solution.”
