Gunshots on Sunday afternoon as gunmen attacked the Jos
correctional facility in Plateau state.
It was gathered that there were gunshots around the
facility but security operatives are currently on top of the situation.
Gabriel Ogaba, the spokesperson of the Plateau state police
command, confirmed the incident on Sunday evening.
“Yes, some gunmen attacked the prison today,” Ogaba said.
“We are currently on
top of the situation.”
It is not yet certain if any inmate escaped during the
attack.
This is the second time gunmen will be attacking the Jos
prison this year.
In July 2021, the Plateau command of the Nigerian
Correctional Service (NCoS) said four inmates escaped from the attack.
