A video of a gas explosion involving a student of the Nnamdi
Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awkwa, Anambra state, has surfaced online and
gone viral.
In the short clip, the yet-to-be-identified student of the
institution was seen on a Facebook live session as she relished her hair.
The female student was still on Facebook live when the gas
exploded, leaving the room in disarray.
“I’m so proud of myself that I have such hair, you’ll not
understand, that’s why you’re…,” she was heard saying before the blast.
Amid the ensuing melee, other students believed to be
occupants of the hostel were heard screaming “Jesus Christ”.
The explosion was said to have occurred at the El-Shaddai
hostel on Tuesday while an occupant of one of the rooms was reportedly making
popcorn.
In another video, some students were seen trying to stop the
fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
As of the time of this report, it remains unclear if any
casualty was recorded during the explosion.
The varsity has also not reacted to the incident as video of
the explosion continues to dominate discussions on social media platforms.
