The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed
376 new cases of coronavirus in the country.
The agency, in its latest update, said the cases were
reported across 14 states.
A breakdown of new cases showed that Lagos state — the
epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria — recorded the highest number of new
infections with 215 new positive samples, followed by Rivers with 82 and Ondo
with 16.
Other states that reported new infections include Imo (14),
Plateau (12), Kaduna (10), Kwara (9), Ekiti (4), Bauchi (3), Delta (3), Kano
(3), Sokoto (3), Nasarawa (1), and Oyo (1).
The agency said the report includes a backlog of 179 cases
reported in Lagos state from September 11.
The NCDC update showed that 659 persons were discharged
after recovering from the infection on Saturday.
However, 35 additional persons were confirmed to have died
of COVID complications.
The agency added that “32 deaths reported in Lagos, include
backlog from September 11, 2021.”
So far, NCDC has recorded 209,173 infections, 197,084 recoveries and 2,804 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
