Anambra killings retrogressive – Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to recent killings in Anambra State.

The former senator, who represented Kaduna Central in the National Assembly, wrote on his verified Facebook wall on Tuesday, saying the violence and disruptions in Anambra are retrogressive.

Recall that there have been killings and burning of properties by hoodlums suspected to be political thugs.

The killings in Anambra State continued unabated on Thursday as six policemen were shot dead by hoodlums despite the heavy presence of security operatives in major towns of the state.

In Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area of the state, a car belonging to a member of the House of Representatives for Nnewi North/South/ Ekwusigo, Chris Azubogu, was attacked and his driver killed.

The killings came barely 48 hours after the gruesome murder of Dr Chike Akunyili, the widower of the late former Minister of Information, Prof. Dora Akunyili, and eight others in the state.

“The violence and disruptions in the Anambra electioneering campaigns are retrogressive to the state and the entire southeastern region. There is no way these killings can advance the cause of the region politically,” Shehu Sani said.
