Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has warned manager
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over being sacked if he does not win a trophy for the club
this season.
Scholes gave the warning following Man United’s Champions
League 2-1 defeat to Young Boys on Tuesday night.
The former midfield maestro believes Man United must land a
trophy this season after re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer from
Juventus, adding ‘Solskjaer has to win something’ this term.
Recall that Man United suffered an embarrassing defeat to
Young Boys in their Champions League opener despite the likes of Ronaldo, Bruno
Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho all starting against Young Boys.
“That’s what you expect from Man United [to sign the best
players], it’s been a quiet time over the last few years,” Scholes told BT
Sport.
“Ole has now built a squad that is capable of winning the
big prizes and that’s what he has been brought to do.
“The only difference is the quality of the managers, Man
City, Chelsea, Liverpool have proven winners.
“You’ve got Ole, who has done a fantastic job building this
squad, now is the time with that squad of players. He has to win something.”
