Ignatius Kaigama, the Catholic archbishop of Abuja, says the insecurity in the country does not affect just one religion.
The cleric said Nigerians of all tribes and religions are
being killed while he called on the citizens to promote peaceful coexistence.
He spoke on Friday in Abuja after a special mass celebration
at Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Pro Cathedral.
The archbishop said peace and security are crucial to
ensuring that the country remains united.
He appealed to Nigerians not to promote crises through
religion.
“Nigerians are being killed not Christians; it is not about
a particular religion,” he said.
During his sermon, the archbishop said the church is the
light for the society to look up to.
“The church has the responsibilities to teach the society to
move from conflict to communion,” he said.
“I urged Nigerians to always give thanks to God, who has
continued to preserve the nation.”
The archbishop urged Nigerians not to relent in praying for
unity in the country.
