The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), a socio-cultural organization, has blamed the leaders on the current socio-economic, political and security challenges ravaging Nigeria.
OYC vehemently frowned at the unguarded utterances and inactions of President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders in the country and declared emphatically that Nigerian youths will not afford again to pay with their blood into another civil war.
The Igboayaka O. Igboayaka-led Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) in a release sent to newsmen on Friday, noted that the stake failure of Nigeria political elders between 1960 to 1966, which led to the anger of young military (Youth) in Nigeria to revolt, urging the youths to shun violence and embrace dialogue.
According to the highest Igbo youth body, “Unfortunately, today the political elders who saw the war and learnt no lesson from the war want to lead the Youths into another war/crisis by their utterances, even the President Muhammadu Buhari’s utterances and actions.
“The Youth that fought the war are the elders in Nigeria today, and have held on to power for 51 years. Their colossal leadership failure, looting, injustice, marginalization and violent killings against Igbo Youths is a deliberate attempt to lead the present Youths into war/crisis.
“The youths won’t pay the ultimate price of war in Nigeria again, dialogue and diplomatic approach shall give us all we need even the quest for self-determination.
“The viable option for Igbo, political and religious elders from National Assembly, State, LGA and community levels should be to convene an immediate meeting between the youths and the elders at the various levels within 60 days.”
