Former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida says his
relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari remains cordial.
The retired General said contrary to speculations, there is
no bad blood between them.
In December 1983, Buhari, then a Major General, was part of
the plotters that overthrew the Shehu Shagari government in the Second
Republic.
He then became Head of State but was ousted in August 1985 when officers, led by Babangida, rebelled.
Ahead of the 2015 elections, IBB and Buhari met as part of
the latter’s campaign strategy to secure the support of influential Nigerians.
In an interview with Arise TV, Babangida blamed the media
for the belief that he and the President are not on good terms.
“There is no problem, our relationship is good. But you
people (the media) say otherwise”, he said.
