We’ve saved N500m from civil servants’ verification, Gov Mohammed reveals

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, on Tuesday informed that his administration has saved the sum of N500 million from the ongoing staff verification in the state.

This is even as the governor revealed that the money saved from the verification exercise would be used to employ more people, particularly in the health sector.

Governor Mohammed stated this while flagging off the distribution of empowerment items in Ganjuwa, the headquarters of Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.

He said the issue of ghost workers had rubbed off negatively on the state as government policies and programmes had been affected while money meant to develop the state was going to individual pockets.

While saying that the bane of the state government was the paucity of funds, Governor Mohammed informed that his administration would employ more people into the state civil service using the money saved from the verification exercise.

“The money will be used to employed new civil servants to replace those who have retired. More attention will be paid to adequate staffing of the health sector of the state.

“Paucity of funds is our major problem as we are striving to provide effective service delivery for the development of the state.

“We met a dilapidated state, the economy was bad, nothing was working but we are doing our best to get things back in order,” the governor said

He, however, assured that his administration would continue to serve the people of the state by providing the best infrastructure, adding that the next two years would be used to concentrate on lifting the infrastructure base of the state, which he said, for now, was 50 years behind.

The governor then solicited the support of the people of the state for the 2023 general elections, urging them to vote for his administration for it to complete all the good projects and programmes it started.
