You guys were friends before anything, Davido’s cousin tells Chioma

Clarks Adeleke, Davido‘s cousin, has spoken of the singer’s relationship with Chioma Avril Rowland, his estranged fiancee, at her birthday dinner night.

Although Davido and Chioma didn’t speak on what went wrong, photos and videos of the couple mingling with their respective opposite sexes had earlier surfaced online in a way that suggested their relationship had gone south.

Chioma pulled down photos of Davido from her Instagram page.

The incident, which occurred a month ago, came at about the same time when rumour circulated the internet about an affair between the ‘OBO’ crooner and Mya Yafai, American model.

On Friday, Chioma marked her 26th birthday at a dinner night that united her loved ones with the Adeleke family.

While delivering a speech at the event, Clarks urged the estranged lovers to remember they were friends before anything, regardless of what happened between them. He also charged Chioma to remember their song together.

Davido proposed to Chioma in September 2019 after the couple had staged a low-key introduction ceremony.

He announced plans to tie the knot with her but would later postpone the wedding to a yet-to-be-revealed date.

In October 2019, the couple had birthed Ifeanyi, their first son together who doubles as Davido’s third child.

Speaking of their relationship in an interview, Davido said: “I’ve known Chioma for seven years. But we started dating properly five years ago. We went to the same school in Babcock. I got so used to her and she did to me.

“Chioma is somebody I can leave Imade with. I know nothing will happen. I gave her fame; she didn’t want the ‘Assurance’ video. Every day, if I show you the messages she gets, people are evil!

“She didn’t ask for this. She’s handling it quite well for someone who didn’t expect anything like an overnight blowing. She has her own family, her dad. Imagine that added to my own problems.”
