Who will win the NBA Championship?

The regular season is over. The playoffs are in town now. That means that in just a few weeks time another name will be inscribed onto the Larry O’Brien trophy.

The only question that remains is who will win the NBA Championship?

So, who will win the NBA Championship?

Philadelphia 76ers

His brother might be one of the best three point shooters in NBA history but it's Seth Curry - not Steph - that will fancy their chances of winning the NBA Championship in 2021.

The 76ers topped the Atlantic Division with a 49-23 record and now lead in their playoff series against the Wizards; that is largely down to the impact of Tobias Harris' 37 point haul but they are far from a one man team.

Harris has been pretty sensational all season whilst pretty much every side in the league would love Joel Embiid, who led the team on points, rebounds and blocks in the regular season, on their roster.

Curry himself knows how to sink a shot too whilst Ben Simmons is allowed to create amongst those players as well. The 76ers will give anyone a good game but their fate might come down to fitness because, after all, their track record on that front is somewhat patchy.

Utah Jazz

To be honest, making a case for the Jazz to be considered contenders for the NBA Championship is pretty easy; just look to the stats.

They racked up 52 wins during the regular season, which means they've tasted defeat less than any other side but they also did so with the biggest points differential (9.2). Its these reasons that give us confidence that they'll come back strong against the Grizzlies.

The other thing that goes massively in their favour is the fact that they have an array of talent in their ranks - not just a star player or two.

Rudy Gobert, who has averaged 13.5 rebounds per game this year, is as good as any defensive player in the league and his name might figure in the list of most underrated players this season (click here to see TwinSpires list of most underrated players in NBA history).

Mike Conley and Donavan Mitchell have been incredible whilst Bogan Bogdanovic showcased his quality with 29 points in their last game. If most of them turn up, they'll have more than half a chance.

LA Lakers

That's right, next up in our list of teams that might win the NBA Championship is the LA Lakers. They obviously have double the motivation of the other teams too; not only will they want to win the title but it would also see them clinch back to back Championship crowns. They've not done that since the 2009 and 2010 double

Their playoff campaign didn't get off to the best start but they’ve levelled up against the banana skin that is the Phoenix Suns and that first game loss won't mean much come the end of the seven game series. The likes of LeBron James and Anthony Davis will prove crucial.

They suffered injuries galore through the season but with one of the best defenses in the entire league, they'll be a tough nut to crack and another triumph isn't beyond the realms of reality.

Brooklyn Nets

We've just spoken about the fact the Lakers are strong at the rear with some of the best defensive players in the NBA in their ranks. Well, Brooklyn can boast some pretty damn impressive talents too although they're more focussed on scoring points.

The Nets have long been earmarked as the leading horse in the Championship race and, if they do go all the way, it will likely lead to some mouth-watering basketball.

The trio of Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and mid-season trade James Harden is frightening with a combined points per game average of 78.4 over the course of the season.

Throw into the mix Blake Griffin, who they acquired in free agency and boy do they have a chance. In fact, you could probably go as far as to say they will have underachieved if they don't hold that trophy aloft come July 2021.

There you have it, our look at the teams we expect to challenge for the NBA Championship.
