Kidnapped Adamawa female journalist regains freedom


The kidnapped female journalist in Adamawa State, Amrah Ahmed has regained her freedom.

Amrah, a news editor with the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation Yola, was on the 4th of this month, abducted by unknown gunmen in her Mbamba residence, located in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

The kidnapped journalist, a nursing a mother regained her freedom in the early hours of Wednesday.

The news of her release was made public via WhatsApp platform by her husband, Alhaji Ahmad Isa Mbamba in the early hours of Wednesday.

In the said WhatsApp chat, he wrote “Alhamdulilla Amra has regained her freedom and reunited with her family safely.”

According to him “she returned safely. Our sincere thanks to all colleagues for their show of concern and prayers.”

As of the time of filing this report, we could not ascertain whether ransom was paid to the hoodlums before she was allowed the air of freedom.

It was earlier reported that her abductors demanded a ransom of about N50 million, which after series of negotiations, was reduced to N20 million.

Shortly after her abduction, it would be recalled that the leadership of the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), had tasked all the members of the union to embark on fasting and prayers for her safe release.
