Ismail Danbaba, a member representing Nasarawa central in the state house of assembly, has been abducted by suspected gunmen.

Danbaba was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday evening along Akwanga/Jos road close to the forest in Sanga LGA of Kaduna state.

The lawmaker was said to have been on his way to Jos, Plateau state for a legislative workshop scheduled for Sunday when he was abducted.

Muhammed Omadefu, chairman of the house of assembly committee on information, confirmed the abduction of the lawmaker.

He said the kidnappers have already established contact with some of the victim’s relatives but they were yet to make any demand.

Muhammad Jalige, spokesperson for Kaduna state police command, however, did not confirm the incident when he spoke on phone.

Kaduna, over the months, has been a flashpoint of kidnappings and banditry.

Many students, as well as some residents of the state, have been victims of kidnappers.

On Saturday, fourteen of the abducted students of the Greenfield University in the state regained their freedom.

The students were abducted on April 18 when suspected bandits attacked the institution.

The bandits had killed five of the students and threatened to kill the others if a ransom of N100 million and 10 motorcycles are not delivered to them.

According to the parents, the sum of N180 million was paid to bandits before their children were released.
