Fani-Kayode meets with Buni — second time in two months

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, says he had a series of meetings with Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe state.

He disclosed this in a post via his Twitter handle on Wednesday.

In his tweet, Fani-Kayode said he would continue to meet with Buni until peace is achieved in the country.

“A great afternoon and an extraordinary, fruitful and productive series of meetings with Governor Mai Buni of Yobe state who is the National Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee and a great friend and brother. The struggle to save Nigeria and move her forward continues,” he wrote.

“We shall continue to meet, collaborate, work closely together and interact and we shall remove every obstacle, climb every mountain and level every valley until we achieve our collective objective of peace, love, joy, unity and progress in our great and beloved country.”

This is the second time in two months that the former aviation minister will meet with Buni — the duo met behind closed doors in February without revealing details of what transpired during that meeting.

Fani-Kayode had also met with Yahaya Bello, governor of Kogi state who is a also member of the APC.

The February meetings had sparked rumours of his defection to the APC, especially when Bello, while addressing journalists after revalidating his APC membership in February, claimed that Fani-Kayode had crossed over to the ruling party.

“I have the mandate to mobilise, to sensitise, to educate and woo Nigerians into the party, irrespective of their background. Our brother and friend, Chief Femi Fani Kayode, has joined our party in good faith. He is joining our party to come and add his own positive energy and make contribution into ensuring that APC is a party to beat,” Bello had said.

But in a tweet, Fani-Kayode debunked Bello’s claim, saying he is still a member of PDP.

“Though we have had meetings across party lines and we are in a season of political consultation, I have not left the PDP,” he said.
