Osun Governor receives first jab of COVID-19 vaccine

Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has received his first jab of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

The Governor received his first jab together with the deputy governor, Benedict Alabi, with their spouses.

Earlier in a message on his verified Facebook page, the Governor stated that he took delivery of a total of 64,240 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government on Tuesday evening.

He had also disclosed that he will be vaccinated today after some frontline medical personnel must have had their own first dose of the vaccine.

While commending the federal government and the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 for their efforts in ensuring that the nation was free of the pandemic, Oyetola urged citizens and residents of the State to register and present themselves for the vaccination.

The State government also revealed that it was prepared to both preserve and administer the vaccines, having trained about 300 health workers for the vaccination exercise, adding that it had also installed storage facilities (cold chain) across the 332 wards in the State.

The Osun State government received the vaccines at about 7:11pm on Tuesday evening.
