PHOTO NEWS: Many feared killed, cars burnt as petrol tanker explodes in Abeokuta

Many commuters are said to have died as a petrol tanker exploded in Abeokuta the Ogun State capital on Tuesday.

It was gathered that the tanker driving towards GTB, Kuto, Abeokuta fell and went up in flames immediately.

Several vehicles and motorcycles were trapped in the inferno. Many people struggled to escape being burnt.

Owodunni Yekinni, a civil servant at the Ogun State Ministry of Works told our correspondent how he escaped death.

According to Owodunni, the tanker had lost control and fell right beside his car, spilling its content.

Our correspondent who visited the scene of the incident, confirmed that an okada rider was burnt beyond recognition.

At the moment, fire fighters, policemen and other security agents are battling to stop the fire and to avoid more casualties.
