BREAKING: Abducted Kankara schoolboys released

The abducted students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina, have been freed.

This was disclosed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad via his Twitter handle.

According to Ahmad: “The abducted students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara have been rescued, the Katsina State Government has confirmed the news. Alhamdulillah.”

The Special Adviser to the Katsina Governor on Security, Ibrahim Kastina, also confirmed the release of the students.

He said the students were freed on Thursday at Tsafe (82.5km via road) from Kankara town in Katsina State where they were abducted.

Recall that last week about 300 students from GSSS in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State were abducted.

Boko Haram later claimed responsibility for the incident but Aminu Masari, the governor, said bandits were behind the attack.

On Thursday, the insurgent released a video claiming it has custody of the abducted students.

The clip which is six-minute-and-30-second long, shows scores of young boys behind him, all covered in dust within a forest area.
