US election 2020 results: How Nigeria will benefit if Biden defeats Trump

The candidate of the Democratic Party, Joe Biden, is almost certain to become the 46th US President.

At the time of filing this report, Biden had taken the lead in Pennsylvania after edging ahead in Georgia.

A win in Pennsylvania which carries 20 Electoral College votes, would secure Biden the presidency.

Nigerians have followed every twist and turn since the election ended.

But how does it really affect us?

“First, America is returning to global leadership. Trump presidency created a vacuum in global leadership and it showed in how the world responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. There was no coordinated global response in trying to contain the deadly disease.

“Rather, what we saw was an unhinged Donald Trump picking fights with the WHO leadership and his country’s own scientists. And we see how that panned out in his own country – highest infection rate in the world and highest death rate from the pandemic also.

“So a Biden presidency returns America to its rightful place as the leader of the world. That leadership will extend to Nigeria. You saw how Biden the candidate responded to the attack on the End SARS protesters by the Nigerian government? That’s exactly what you will get from President Biden: an eye on the world,” Nedu Ekeke, a socio-political commentator disclosed.
