Why Messi will snub move to Man City

Lionel Messi will snub a move to Manchester City and remain a Barcelona player for another season, because of a bonus in his current deal, the UK Times reports.

It is understood that Messi is ready to make a u-turn on his decision to leave the Camp Nou.

The 33-year-old’s change of heart is based on a £63million loyalty bonus he is due to receive; if he stays until June 2021.

Messi had informed the Spanish club via fax that he wanted to leave immediately as a free agent.

But Barca and LaLiga have remained firm, insisting that any interested club must pay his £630million release clause.

Manchester City emerged as favourites to sign Messi and reunite him with his former mentor, Pep Guardiola.

However, a move to the Premier League, now looks as if it won’t happen.
