Many ex-PDP govs can’t walk on the streets without being stoned -Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole, former national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), says no ex-governor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can walk freely on the streets without being stoned.

Speaking when he featured on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, Oshiomhole said he had walked freely on the streets of Benin, capital of Edo, without receiving the wrath of the people.

The former APC chairman, who governed Edo between 2008 and 2016, dared ex-PDP governors to do the same in their respective states.

“If you play back PDP mega rally, their flag off and see the reaction on when their new member entered. People are like – hired as they were, who is this?” he said.

“Now look at when I entered the University of Benin stadium. Look at the reaction of the ordinary people. You must have watched or I will show you the video. When I walked down the streets of Benin. How many of PDP former governors, whether in this state or in any other state, can walk freely without people stoning them?”

Oshiomhole had supported Godwin Obaseki, who succeeded him as governor but both men fell apart in the middle of Obaseki’s tenure.

Following his disqualification from the APC governorship race, Obaseki defected to the PDP where he is seeking another term.

His main opponent in Saturday’s election is Osagie Ize-Iyamu whom he defeated in 2016, but then his rival was of the PDP while he ran under the platform of the APC.
