Community Shield: Four Arsenal players in quarantine ahead of Liverpool clash

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta’s preparation for this weekend’s Community Shield, has been disrupted by up to four players returning late to training after self-isolating, the UK Sun reports.

The Gunners play Liverpool in the season’s traditional curtain-raiser on Saturday.

But Arteta says “it’s not an ideal moment to play”, with some of his players having been in quarantine.

Goalkeeper Emilano Martinez, who impressed after the restart following Bernd Leno’s injury, has been self-isolating following a holiday in Portugal.

The Argentine is free to play on Saturday and could lose his place to Leno.

Gabriel Magalhaes is also self-isolating, after joining the club from Lille.

The 22-year-old is in quarantine in the UK, as the waits to complete a £25million transfer from Lille.

Two more unnamed players are also self-isolating.

The new Premier League campaign does not start until September 12.
