PDP chairman, Secondus finally speaks on convention, Atiku’s emergence



National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has thanked members of the party for their support at the national convention and presidential primaries which was held in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

Former vice president Atiku Abubakar emerged as the presidential candidate at the event.

Secondus said with the development, the party’s journey to regaining power and ejecting the All Progressives Congress, APC, from office has begun.

A statement on Monday by his spokesman, Ike Abonyi, said the outcome of the convention was a clear demonstration of the rebranding and repositioning of the party.


“The support from members and non members to the reform agenda of the party that culminated in the successful primaries from ward to national levels shows clearly the determination of Nigerians to return PDP to power,” he said.

“Special recognition must be made of those whose yeoman roles made it possible, all those who participated either as a aspirants, or as facilitators and here special mention must be made of the Chairman of the National Convention Committee His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and members of his committee”.

The National Chairman hailed the Rivers state Governor, Neysom Wike and the government and people of the state for their exceptional service and contributions to the party and the successful hosting of the convention.

He also noted the roles of all the PDP governors as well as other critical stakeholders and members at all levels as well as the media and the public for their positive interests in the party.

“By the Port Harcourt successful outing, the party’s journey to Aso Rock villa has begun in earnest and I urge all hands to be on deck until the country is rescued.”

Secondus appealed to members who contested for various positions and lost to emulate the presidential aspirants and make the necessary sacrifices needed for the eventual success of the party, assuring that the PDP umbrella is big enough for all in victory.
