Reno Omokri, former aide to
ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the decision of the Inspector
General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris to shun the Senate for the third time.
Idris, who refused to honour an invite
by the Senate over several killings across the country, had said he owed the
Upper Legislative chamber no apology for his decision.
Reacting to the face-off between
Idris and the Senate, Omokri said the police boss who defied President
Muhammadu Buhari’s orders will do same to other institutions of government.
In a tweet, the former
Presidential aide wrote: “If the IG of Police can defy President Buhari’s
orders to relocate to Benue is it the Senate that he cannot defy?
“His tenure as Nigeria’s police
boss has witnessed unprecedented killings nationwide. Yet this man continues to
act as a law unto himself. Only in Buhari’s Nigeria!
“What‘s the difference between a
dictatorship and Nigeria’s democracy if the Nigerian Senate cannot summon the
Inspector General of Police especially where there have been unprecedented
deaths in every part of Nigeria?
“What does this say about the
Principle of Checks and Balances?”
