A 45-year-old woman, Hassana
Sabiu, who connived with her daughter to allegedly kill a newborn baby has been
arrested by the Katsina police command.
The new born baby was found dead
in a garbage-can at Madugu House along Yahaya Madaki way.
It was gathered that the
25-year-old daughter, Qamariya Ismail, was pregnant out of wedlock.
Police Command’s spokesperson,
DSP Isah Gambo,confirmed the arrest saying the mother and daughter were
arrested after investigations were conducted.
“The dead female new-born baby was found inside a dustbin at Madugu House on Yahaya Madaki way.
“Investigation aided by neighbours linked baby to Qamariyya who was pregnant out of wedlock.”
Upon interrogation, mother of the
baby, Qamariyya confessed to killing and throwing the baby inside garbage can.
She added that her mother knew
about the pregnancy and convinced her into carrying out the act.
