EFCC lambastes Dino Melaye in latest magazine

Kogi-West Senator, Dino Melaye, has been lambasted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in its latest issue of ‘EFCC Alert’, a magazine published by the commission every quarter.

In a write-up titled, ‘Dino-Melaye, what manner of anti-graft crusader’, Melaye’s rise to the Senate is featured in pages 8, 9 and 10.

The magazine contains 2013 pictures of Melaye engaging in an anti-corruption protest alongside a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who was in the All Progressives Congress at the time.

Fani-Kayode is currently standing trial for an alleged fraud to the tune of N4bn.

On page 8, Melaye is seen posing with human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and a few notable protesters.

The picture is juxtaposed with another in which Melaye is seen posing in several luxury cars including a Mercedes-Benz, a Bentley, a Porsche, a Rolls Royce and a Lamborghini. The pictures were captioned, ‘Dino’s metamorphosis- a lover of exotic cars’.

The EFCC adds, “Below is a panoply of the lavish lifestyle and panoramic metamorphosis of a man, who in the days of yore, posed as the voice of the voiceless but whose chaotic and scandal-plagued time in the corridors of power portrays a man adorned with the beard of narcissism driven by the insatiable thirst for the water of self-adulation and acknowledgement of his burly voice.”

While making reference to the acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu’s assertion at the Senate regarding Melaye during his confirmation hearing, the EFCC added, “Dino is our friend, we were fighting corruption together till he got to this house (National Assembly) and abandoned us.”

The EFCC also mocks Melaye for launching a book titled, ‘Antidotes for Corruption’ last month.
