President Buhari promises to pay Super Falcons in two days after National Assembly protest

President Muhammadu Buhari, has promised to pay all outstanding bonuses and allowances to the Super Falcons within 48 hours, after they staged a protest to the National Assembly on Wednesday morning.

The country’s senior women national team, have not received their entitlements since they won this year’s Africa Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

They have resorted to a sit-in protest at their Abuja hotel since they arrived back in Nigeria  and have also seized the trophy they won.

However, on Wednesday, they took to the streets with placards and banners.

Their action was strategic, as Buhari was due to submit the 2017 Budget to the lawmakers today.

The president, through his chief of staff, Abba Kyari, has promised to pay all their entitlements in two days. The players were told to submit a means of contact, before being told to return to their hotel.

Florence Omagbemi’s players are being owed at least $16,500 each in match bonuses.
