Liverpool 0-0 Manchester United: Mourinho’s men frustrate Reds

Liverpool and Manchester United played out a goalless draw at Anfield on Monday as Jurgen Klopp’s men missed the chance to move level on points at the top of the Premier League table.

The visitors edged the first half in a game of few chances but the Reds improved after the break particularly after the arrival of Adam Lallana for Daniel Sturridge.

Emre Can forced a great save from David de Gea after dribbling into the box and poking a shot goalwards but the Spain international got down quickly to deny him.

Philippe Coutinho then came close to breaking the deadlock, curling a great shot which looked destined for the back of the net until a diving De Gea managed to tip it to safety.

The Reds pressed in the closing stages, Coutinho’s flick sending Roberto Firmino scampering through on goal and only denied by a great challenge by Antonio Valencia as the visitors held onto a point.
