Arsensal failed to land Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the summer transfer window because they wouldn’t meet Borussia Dortmund’s £87million asking price, it is alleged.
Aubameyang has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Gunners – along with a host of other leading European clubs.
And according to Spanish news outlet El Confidencial Arsene Wenger made an official attempt to sign him this summer.
The Gunners apparently offered £52m and negotiations broke down.
Arsenal turned to instead to Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez and signed him for £17.1m.
