Rio Olympics: Mikel Won't Carry Nigeria's Flag At Opening Ceremony

Team Nigeria captain and Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi will not be the one carrying the country’s flag at what is expected to be a very colourful opening ceremony of Rio Olympics tomorrow.

Mikel and the football squad have been stranded at Atlanta, Georgia, since July 29 even though officials have now assured the team will finally fly out on chartered flight this afternoon.

Logistic considerations are therefore expected to knockout the Super Eagles skipper from leading out Team Nigeria.

Female table tennis player Funke Oshinaike is now expected to get the honour to lead the 85-man strong Nigerian at the opening ceremony.

Tennis star Andy Murray with lead the British contingent, while multiple-Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps will spearhead the team from the United States of America.
