Senegal defender Papy Djilobodji has completed a transfer to Sunderland from parent club Chelsea for a fee of £8million.
The 27-year-old signed a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light, becoming the first signing for new manager David Moyes.
Djilobodji joined Chelsea last year for a reported £2.7million but played just once for the Blues, appearing as a late substitute in a Capital Cup win over Walsall.
The Senegal international spent the second half of last season on loan at Werder Bremen and notably scored a key goal to help them secure Bundesliga survival.
“Chelsea Football Club thanks Papy for his service and wishes him well for the future,” a statement on their official website read.
