Nigerian football legend Nwankwo Kanu has hailed Wales forward Hal Robson-Kanu following his goal against Belgium in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.
Wales fell behind to a superb Radja Nainggolan strike but equalised through an Ashley Williams header before half-time.
Though Sam Vokes ultimately nodded home to seal a 3-1 win, Wales’ go-ahead goal was provided by Robson-Kanu.
He swivelled brilliantly in the 18-yard box with a Cruyff turn, before slotting a calmly-taken finish in the 55th minute.
Belgium were unable to provide a response, securing Wales’ place in the semi-finals against Portugal.
Social media erupted in support of the 27-year-old, with many focusing on the two iconic portions of his surname.
Arsenal icon Kanu joined in with the fun too, explaining the Dragons star was helping to “keep the name flying”.
Robson-Kanu has played in four of his side’s five matches at Euro 2016, and his goal against Belgium added to the winner he struck against Slovakia on the opening weekend of the tournament.
The 6ft 1in attacker has also created five further chances for his teammates – a tally bettered by only two Wales players.
Robson-Kanu is currently a free agent having seen his contract at Championship side Reading expire last month, with his performances this summer placing him in the proverbial shop window.
Fantastic result and what a goal and skill Robson kanu and keep the name flying 🙏👍.congrats Wales all round team performance— Kanu Nwankwo (@papilokanu) July 1, 2016
