Chelsea have rejected a last-minute bid by Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo for Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo.
Omeruo, 22, who is currently training with Chelsea in London, will therefore still go on a season-long loan to Turkish champions Besiktas.
“Top officials said Celta Vigo tried to sign Omeruo this week on loan, but their interest was late in coming as Chelsea have already agreed with Besiktas on the player,” a source informed reporters.
Central defender Omeruo is heading off on his fourth loan away from Stamford Bridge after he was shipped out to Dutch club ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough and Kasimpasa by ‘The Blues’.
He still has two years left on his Chelsea contract.
Celta Vigo will feature in this season’s UEFA Europa League after they finished sixth in La Liga.
