President Muhammadu Buhari has sued for patience from Nigerians over the alleged slow start of his administration, saying his intention is to rebuild the country for the future.
Buhari made the plea when he hosted delegates of the Niger Delta Dialogue team led by Amanyanabo of Twon Brass, Bayelsa State and Alfred Diette-Spiff at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday.
The President vowed to use the country’s resources judiciously.
Buhari said, “We intend to rebuild this country, so that our children and grandchildren will have a good place they can call their own. A lot of damage has been done, so I want you to tell the people to be patient.
“When you get together with other leaders, please pacify the people. We will utilise the resources of Nigeria with integrity and rebuild the country.
“I want to get as much intelligence as possible on the situation in the Niger Delta. I have encouraged law enforcement agencies to contact leaders like you in order to have enough information to deal with the issues once and for all.”

ReplyDeleteHeeeey! This overflogged excuse? OMG, how this reminds me of Babangida. It won't wash this time around. Then, we would be very annoyed with his policies, hotly annoyed. Then, Babangida would come on air and tell us in his 2-hour speeches that took months to analyse, that we were suffering for the sake of our children's future. As soon as he said that, I would look left and right - all the anger had subsided. Babangida knew how to catch us - through our weakest point, our children. The same old trick of advertisement - check it out: Milo, Bournvita, Gala, all the noodles, and so many more. All these adverts are designed to catch us through our children! Even at the height of the stockmarket boom, there were adverts on how we should have bought shares if only for the sake of our children. The whole of the life-insurance brand is fashioned to catch us through the uncertainty our children face if we should suddenly die. Buhari has awoken the dead monster ... but will it work this time around? If he drove the Naira crazy with his flip-flop, yo-yo lack of economic policies, is he doing so because of the future of our children? I watch Nigerians to see if they'll succumb to the oldest blackmail in the book!
ReplyDeleteMr. President we are in a civilised world. U can be building Nigeria for our children (as u claimed to be doing) at the same time putting the welfare of d masses into consideration. Or better still concentrate on your campaign promises d reason why we voted for u. Pls don't loss a sence of direction.
