IN PICTURES: Students in Osun wear religious robe to school

Sequel to the judgement in Osun State that permitted Muslims students to wear hijab to school, the CAN leadership in the state also mandated Christian students to wear their religious robe to classes, since they also possess freedom of religion and conscience.

Following the instruction, several students were spotted in religious garments at several public schools in Osun.

  6. Ogbeni abi Ogbono Rauf Aregbesola's administration in Osun state is a complete diseaster. It shows how insensitive incompetent clueless wicked foolish stupid petty irresponsible corrupt and bigots APC party and people are. It is madness. Is this part of the much touted change mantra. This man is a disgrace to his family State and Nigeria and APC and its people will go down in Nigeria as the worst party and set of people in the political history of this nation. Osun people sorry ooo! Nigerians sorry ooo! Epele oo! Olosi ni ye oo! Olori buruku ni ooo!

    1. You don't get it, Ken. Competition is not the intent here, rather, to display a visual representation of the repercussions of the meaninless government decision. Christians are not stupid.
Take for example, you don't expect Christians to opt out when workers or bodies of such embark on demostrations or strike, because they are Christians.
This is similar. It is a de-mon-stra-tion. Get it? Drawing the attention of the authorities.

  10. Somehow, we have long forgotten who we are as Christians, we have lost the original calling. The world is meant to hate us as Christians, tribulations, afflictions and lot more is the divine fate of true Christians but the grace of God is sufficient to overcome all. Apostle Paul, with all his closeness to God was an afflicted man.

  14. Seriously, i see no big deal in allowing hijab in school, a lot of Nigerians are just too ignorant. Even in the UK and US, hijabs are allowed on school uniforms without any hesitation because they know it's part of islamic law for females to cover their hair and they respect individual's faith. Talk more of Nigeria where we have large population of muslims. They can wear their choir gown too lets see who go tire..

    1. Please do not state what you don't know, hijabs are not allowed to school in the uK.if you must wear hijab please go to an islamic school, there are christain sects also that cover their heads like deeper life but you don't see then insisting to wear scarf to school.public schools should have uniformity.

    2. Exactly. Religious dressing should not be allowed in any public school!

    3. Not in support of any of the decisions, just a response to your reply. Actually students do wear Hijabs to school in the UK as it is a normal everyday attire for muslim girls and women who chose to wear one.

    4. Actually you are wrong on that account. Students do wear Hijab's to school in the UK, it is seen as a regular form of religious wear for those who chose to wear one.

    5. @'Unknown' & 'Justacontributor' (even as I kno you're the same person), Your information is as good as WRONG! Students wear hijabs in the UK only in the Islamic schools. Maybe you're talking about students who you see around in the streets, but not during the school hours nor in school uniforms.
If you insist, please publish the name of such general school(s) you claim allow hijabs.

    6. Pls the schools in question are they schools that wear uniform in the UK? So we are sure if what we are saying. Secondly are they Christian missionary schools? Can any Christian girl go to any Islamic school and dress in her style? Please people, wake up. They should end their hijab in their Islamic schools.

  15. Why not just mandate all females to wear berets? Why must it be hijab? Isn't there a uniform designed for this kids? When they get to higher institutions where there isn't dress code, they can continue with their full hijab.

  18. Christians shouldn't wear Christian gowns and other religious clothing s because the weather will sometime inconvenience them. I suggest each and every one of them start wearing big crucifixes on their neck. That will be a better counter. Also they will be able to recognise the Muslims when hey meetmthemmand know how to relate to them because they easily take offence on he slightest of issues. On the alternative, a different school should be established for them as they have nothing in common wit Muslims.

  19. Christians need to start showing this Muslim that religion shouldn't be mixed with politic but if there chose to do so then there is no monopoly for stupidity

  20. Your comments is great let call a spade a spade, must they enforce hijab in Christian school whereas Muslim school will not even admit a Christian into their environment talk less of allowing them to wear their choice of cloth....this is not a matter of persecution but issue of knowing your right which force Our Savour Lord Jesus Christ to chase marketers from the synagogue.... we will continue to wear our robe ....wait until we are tire because Osun state Governor need to re-awake to his responsibility.
