The Anambra State Government has condemned the Indigenous People of Biafra’s celebration and rally that turned violent and resulted in the deaths of several persons in Onitsha.
The government, in a public service announcement by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications Strategy, Tony Nnacheta, described the rally as illegal.
It said, “The attention of the Anambra State government has been drawn to illegal demonstration by a group of individuals causing anxiety at the Nkpor/Onitsha axis of the state.
“The law enforcement agencies are fully engaged of the situation and are currently working to restore normalcy and free movement for all law abiding citizens.
“Ndi Anambra are hereby advised to remain calm and vigilant and to go about their lawful businesses. All should note that there are laws against disturbance of public peace.”

DeleteIgbos have become endangered species. They are killed at home by their own people as well as Fulanis. When they are in diaspora, they are killed by their hosts in greater alacrity. May God save us
