MASSOB to FG - 'Conduct referendum for Biafra secession now'

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra,MASSOB, yesterday, asked the Federal Government to quickly conduct a referendum in the south-east geopolitical zone as a precursor to secession or face the total shutdown of socio-economic activities in the region and beyond.

The pro-Biafra group vowed to unleash its potent force towards making Nigeria ungovernable if its stance was not heeded by the Federal Government.

MASSOB Director of Information, Samuel Edeson in a statement to newsmen in Enugu yesterday, said: ”We shall use everything at our disposal to fight Nigeria government especially through civil disobedience. We are going to call for sit at home in all Biafra land and Lagos. MASSOB will drag former President Olusegun Obasanjo to the International Crime Court, ICC, for all the atrocities he committed against Biafra since 1970.

“We are asking for justice for the massacre of Odi people, the Tiv, Jukum and the massacre of MASSOB members in Aba, Okigwe and Onitsha including the killing of six Igbo traders in Apo, Abuja. MASSOB will be taking her campaign to United States of America, United Kingdom, France and China embassies in Abuja. MASSOB therefore calls on all people of old eastern region, Delta, parts of Kogi and parts of Benue State to support the referendum that would soon take place in Biafraland. Our freedom is non negotiable”

  1. Mumu people na OBJ dey rule Nigeria since 1970. Why did you not ask GEJ to conduct referendum? I guess it was because he was dishing out money for your elites ie Metuh, Ayim, Nwobodo etc to do special undisclosed assignments. You better concentrate on what you know best -buying and selling

  2. Referem what?next you'll ask them to conduct referendum for the north on allowing Boko Haram to control parts of Nigeria.Anyone that bears arms against the elected government in Nigeria will face appropriate consequences,it's that simple!!!

  3. The igbos are the most divisive tribes in nigerian.Their was no uproar until an hausa man got elected. What else do they want?An igbo man is the head of nnpc, cbn, petroleum minister. You can never pls them. They complain about the condition in their state, all state gets the federal allocation and thus their gripes should be with their leaders who plundered the resources of their zone. They have a valid complaint about not having an igbo president for a long time during the military era,but they brought this on themselves by being the architect of the first bloody coup that had them killed a lot of people not from their tribes. They showed their tribalism and that was an eye opener for the rest of the tribes. In this current dispensation,we have a democracy and the people decides on who we want to lead us.I don't see this biafran agitation helping their cause.Their is no way the current crops of thieves they have in their zone will ever win a national election in nigeria.Even if they conduct the election in the south south,an hausa man or a yoruba man will win. They need to accept the fact that they don't have the like of zik, ojukwu and Co anymore,a fair argument can be made that the other tribes don't have the caliber of leaders they made previously.I don't see the hausas, the yorubas and south south people calling for secession except the igbo people, that speaks volume and nigerians should look into that.

  5. One Nigeria na by force? Buhari has made comments formally confirming his view of supporting only his supporters and working with those he is comfortable with. So now some people say they are now willing to work with him and be lead by hin and want to leave you are getting bitter. Please if a group of people want to leave what is the point of abusing them? This is why they say nigeria is a zoo with our way of thinking. Uncivilised people.
