What will make us stop our pro-Biafra protests - MASSOB

The Movement for Actualization for Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), on Wednesday, expressed dissatisfaction with last Sunday’s meeting held by South East Governors and other Igbo leaders at the Enugu State Government House in an attempt to end ongoing protests by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and MASSOB, over the continued detention of the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu

After the meeting, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who spoke to reporters on behalf of the Igbo leaders, which included present and past governors, ministers, national assembly members, said the meeting resolved to set up a committee to dialogue with the pro-Biafra agitators.

But in a statement on Wednesday, MASSOB rejected the resolutions, arguing that it did not address the major reason for the protests, which it said was the continued detention of Kanu.

National Director of Information, MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, said the only way to end the crisis is the unconditional release of Mr. Kanu.

The separatist group also said it was worrisome that South East governors met without their counterparts from the South South region, which also witnessed some protests.

Madu said: “MASSOB is not satisfied with all the meeting of Igbo leaders on Sunday because of no seriousness on the plight of Nnamdi Kanu,” Mr. Madu said.

“How can revered Igbo leaders waste a whole day in a marathon meeting without discussing our simple demand of Nnamdi Kanu’s release?

“Are they afraid of Northern oligarchy, western alliance with north or President Buhari? The governors, Ohaneze and other Igbo leaders have proved that they’re not representing the interest & demands of Ndigbo.

“They have shown their soft mind, inferiority complex and loyalty to our oppressors, we shall prove to Nigeria that the Igbo governors, national assembly members, other Igbo leaders are not truly in charge of affairs in Igboland.

“DSS is buying time for long incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu to impress Buhari and Northern political cabals that they can frustrate Biafra revolution.

“Long incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu by DSS will only motivate, inspire and increase the moral of Biafran agitators. How long shall they continue to detain an innocent man who already commands the massive respect of Ndigbo even in detention?

“MASSOB and IPOB members are not demonstrating or protesting against infrastructural decay in Igboland or non inclusion of Igbos in major political appointments but the release of our brother, Nnamdi Kanu, who represents the genuine desire of the people eastern region.

“Other demands and clamour of Ndigbo as a result of the current political tension are good but major one now is the release of Nnamdi Kanu.”

  1. Nigeria please bypass these errand boy Ohanaeze and the likes of Rochas who is seen as a joke by his people and get the grassroots involved in serious discussion. Those clowns in that meeting are just selfish men with absolutely no credibility. They are for hire. Save the nation and bypass them urgently

  2. If okorocha an elected governor by the imo people is now considered to be a joke and of non credible calibre, Then ibo needs only messiah from heaven to rescue them from the ailment of clueliness..

    1. Point of Correction. Rochas Okorocha was not elected but selected. The Imo State governor used his incumbent power to remain in power. Rochas Okorocha is equivalent to Judas Iscariot among the 12 disciples of Christ

  3. Everybody would have taken you people seriously if you had started this agitation under President Jonathan.

Please, tell the World why you this period. During the election campaign, some you said unless Jonathan wins, you make Nigeria ungovernable.

    ?????WHY????

    2. @Anonymous 6:55am, You mean GEJ did all these things to the Igbos and they still went ahead and voted massively for him to still be President? And you are now complaining about a GMB's attitude, someone who has not done anything since he has come into power?

    3. Devil and the deep blue sea. That's why they want biafra plus at the hate the likes of you have for Igbo that they wonder why you still want theM. Any bigotry is not rational so trying to make sense to you would hurt your feudalist ego.

  4. Pls let there be peace. We have had enough crisis. Let's move forward.

  5. Yeah, we need to move forward and in fact we are on the way already. The the agitators should be calm and allow peace to reign. You people push your right away as a result of your selfishness and selfless idea about the returns of GEJ back to office. The change we made or agitated for was not base on party nor sentiment but to the fact that we are tired of PDP system of governance.
Ndigbo at large, my advice to you is to respect your elders, listening and be submissive to them.
Whatsoever, you will have to wait for your turn and forget about you not given any important political post because you three it away what was given to you.
One Nigeria! One love! One brother. Together we need our self to fight terrorism and make Nigeria great AGAIN.

    1. You are very blind in your statement. You must have seen clearly the change you voted for. No fuel in the country and no just reason for scarcity. Nobody is calling for political post but the release of Nnamdi Kalu. Once released you can continue to preach the fake one love, one brother, one Nigeria.

  6. Some people cannot just read and understand the reason for a situation. What is the bone of contention here? RELEASE NNAMDI KALU! And you're asking why did they not protest during Jonathan's administration. Was Nnamdi Kalu arrested during Jonathan's regime?

OK, if you think it was right to arrest him; tell me:

    - what was the reason(s) for his arrest?

    - where is the official statement for his arrest?

    - has he not been granted bail and all requirements met?

    - why is he still been detained?

The people have said they only need the man's release, forget the other agitations, you are unlawfully holding back the man. How's that difficult to understand?

It will only get worse for you people if you don't let the man go. It's OK if you want to see or know what will happen, but be sure it won't be your best decision.

  7. SOME PEOPLE JUST DABBLE INTO DISCUSSING ISSUES IN IGNORANCE. IGBOS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ENDANGERED SPECIES IN NIGERIA. THE TRUTH IS THAT THE ONLY UNITY IN NIGERIA IS THE UNITED HATRED OF THE IGBOS BY OTHER TRIBES IN NIGERIA. BUT MOST TRUE IS THAT IGBOS TEND TO HATE THEMSELVES EVEN MORE. THE WORST IS THE COMPRADO IGBO LEADERS WHO WILL OUT OF SHORT-SIGHTEDNESS DINE WITH THE ENEMIES OF THE IGBO NATION. ALL THOSE CLOWNS IN NIGERIA WHO ARE NOW SHOUTING THEMSELVES HOARSE OVER THE MASSOB THING HAVE MAINTAINED HYPOCRITICAL SILENCE WHILE BOKO HARAM IS ON RAMPAGE. IGBOS ARE THE WHIPPING BOY OF NIGERIA'S INABILITY TO FORGE A NATION. SHAME ON ALL OF US AND THIS HASTY BUT FORCED AND BAD MARRIAGE. WITH TIME WHEN THE WIND BLOWS, THE TRUTH WILL MANIFEST AND BE VERY TRANSPARENT FOR ALL, EVEN THE BLIND TO SEE. Jay 2, Abuja.

  8. Though i am not from the South East, many people are talking from the ANUS here. This type of ''i don care'' attitude and sentimental approach to matters that are germain (simply because the person in question is not from ''our'' place) is a real threat to Nigerian's sovereignty. The continuous detention of Nnamdi Kanu is tantamount to anarchy and blood shed. Buhari has been warned by leaders of thought that Nigeria cannot survive another civil war. We should rather strive to contain the excesses of Boko Haram which is almost engulfing us as a country, and not to compound the myriads of our problems by using force to tame the agitators of Biafra which can only succeed in escalating an already complex situation. When it will start, all these chameleonic fools blabbing here will turn to blame FG for using force. There are better ways to handle issues other than necessary detention of an agitator.

    1. And who asked for warrant of arrest here? Out of all the points the commenter mentioned, you only picked one and misinterpreted it like a cow. And for your correction, the president does not have constitutional right to do whatsoever he so desires as he's not above the country's constitutional laws. Calling Nnamdi Kalu a terrorist, I will just assume you don't understand the true meaning of a terrorist. And hey, iburo nwa afor. Anyi ma ndi neje mba rifor nni. }Interpretation{ - we know you're not Biafran, you can't deceive us under the guise of anonymous. Thank you.
