No going back on Kogi run-off — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said there is no going back on the planned Kogi State governorship supplementary election scheduled for December 5.

As a mark of its preparedness, the commission said it had prepared its supplementary budget for the election.

The commission’s Deputy Director of Voters Education and Publicity, Mr. Nick Dazang, stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Saturday.

He said the commission was not ready to either shift or postpone the scheduled election,

Dazang said, “We are prepared for the election and we are not thinking of either postponing it or cancelling it. In fact, we have prepared a supplementary budget for the election.

“The budget is for the conduct of the election and it will cover expenses such as accommodation, allowance and other logistics for the election.”

He said the budget was already submitted to the commission’s chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

On when the All Progressives Congress would submit the name of its governorship candidate, he said the commission had yet to give the party a deadline.

But he said the commission would not give the party a deadline for now.

“We are not talking about deadline for now, but we expect the party to submit the name of its candidate by December 1,” he added.

  1. See the true picture:
    Total registered voter - 1,350,888
Total number of vote cast - 479,157
    APC - 240,867
    PDP - 199,514
    Margin - 41,000
Registered voters in cancelled 91 Polling Units - 49,000
Total number of PVCs available in affected areas - 35,785
Number of those accredited in 91 Polling Units - 19,178
Already, APC has 25% in 16LGA

    APC already won under S.179 (sub. 1 & 2)
Section 1(3) talks about the supremacy of the Constitution

INEC used its election guideline under Electoral Act in S. 73 & 153 - a subsidiary instrument to the provision of the 1999 Constitution to subvert Faleke from being declared Deputy Governor-Elect (having inner information that Audu is dead, INEC declared the election inconclusive whereas accredited voters in the affected areas is 19,178 and total number of PVC available in the affected area is 35,785. Instead, INEC used Registered Voters Number in affected areas which is 49,000 to cancel the victory for which there is margin of 41,000 between Audu & Wada, and the remaining is 19,178 that can vote that day - even the available PVC that day there is 35,785 which is still less than difference between Audu and Wada).

Obviously, INEC is doing the bidding of someone.
