Vincent Enyeama retires from Super Eagles after clash with coach, Sunday Oliseh

Super Eagles captain and goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has said that he is no longer a player with the Nigeria’s senior football team, the Super Eagles.

The dependable goalie who took to his Instagram page, ‘vinny 2908’, said he has served Nigeria his best while in the pitch and now, has retired from active play with Eagles to focus on his club career.

“I have fought a good fight for more than 13years.I have finished my cou
rse, I have kept the faith and sang the anthem with passion. henceforth, there is laid for me a crown which only GOD can reward me for my 13years of national services. God bless NIgeria.
“Henceforth, I am no more the captain of the NIgerian senior football team, I am no more the goalie of the team. I am out of the team. I am no more available for international duties.
“I want to say thank you to every Nigerian fan and supporter world wide. It’s been the most trying period of my life but I know that Nigerians are there for me and God is with me. God bless NIgeria.”

Enyeama and Oma, as the former captain left the camp
Recall that the former Eagles captain was recently stripped of that title by the Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh and handed over to CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa, following an altercation between them.

Although Oliseh has said the rift between him and Enyeama has been sewn, he insisted that his decision stripping the former Eagles captain was based on discipline. ‘’I want a captain who is disciplined. A leader who can motivate other players. A player who comes to camp early. I want a young player not a retiring player as captain. And Ahmed Musa is that player. He is my captain.’’

“The fact that I would like to have somebody (as captain) who is thinking of playing now and not somebody who is preparing for retirement or thinking of life after-football. And I think it’s time we had peace and quiet around the Super Eagles. That is why I am glad that most of the players here are finding ways to work as a team because I get the feeling now that they are aware that they are representing 170 million people’’, Oliseh said on Brilla FM.

END OF AN ERA: The vehicle Enyeama drove off in, leaving the Super Eagles permanently

According to a football presenter and analyst, Oma Akatugba he said Mikel Obi, Emenike and a few other players pleaded with Enyeama to stay but he refused.

  1. Thanks Enyeama for your 13th solid years of Sacrifice for our dear coun3, painful as its seems, you should know better as a leader, like you so is Oliseh the very best is what you both want for Nigeria, but taking it from two different angles, one has to give in for another; from all indication you might definitely become a coach of the tem in the nearest future and only disciplined and committed players you would want to work with, it was for you to respect the rules in camp first as the captain of the team, maybe Stephen Keshi was taking it, and you should know that its a new era now. Oliseh is not Keshi, throwing the towel in a beautiful career that endeared you to the harts of this great nation would not do you any good, but anyway its your life, but we football lovers would always love you so dearly... God bless you and guide you in your future endeavor

  3. Enyeama had been a great player. But has on several occasions shows arrogance to NFF. He has equally made Nigeria to beg him to remain with Super Eagles with threats of retirements. Only in Nigeria players don't show dedication to the end.

  6. No longer individual should be allowed to hold the national team to ransom. No player is indispensable. Assuming Enyeama dies, will Nigeria not produce anoda goalie? Thank God he is not dead. Without him the team can move forward.

  8. It is difficult for some people in this Country to realize where they are because they do not know those who are living ancestors. Most times people believe in just God but they do not know how God operates. I do know that so many older men are still more useful than some young men. Those who wishes that an older person should die, do they know tommorrow? I the writer of this small article know too well that old age is a biological process, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Nigerians have no common destiny that is why we can not excell in anything even where we did, envy must play a part, thereby destroying the real God`s people. May God forgive you negative Nigerians, Amen. Keep yapping yourselves.

  9. Oliseh has not learnt his lessons from previous coaches, hope the early he realised could better. Meanwhile we should forget about racism, hatred, jealous, heaviness also an arrogance will not help the situation and the state of nigeria football status. Mr coach should realised that one bad egg can spoilt the all 29 eggs. however not that absence of eyanma makes nigeria surfer the lost but it contribute to it. Both player and coach should shelve their differences keeps their arrows for the benefit of Nigerian and Sportsmanship
