The Federal Road Safety Corps on Wednesday said it was investigating the circumstances that led to an accident involving former governor of Akwa Ibom State, Goodswill Akpabio.
The head, media relations and strategy, FRSC, Bisi Kazeem told newsmen that investigations into the crash was already ongoing.
Mr Kazeem said, “The accident and investigation team of the FRSC, was immediately deployed to the scene of the crash for investigation.”
Mr. Kazeem said the outcome of the investigation would determine the next line of action the FRSC would take on the matter.
On Monday, the former governor escaped death after his car got involved in an accident along the Airport Road in Abuja.
The accident occurred near the Bolingo Junction, close to the Ship House, Abuja after Mr. Akpabio’s driver reportedly disobeyed traffic light, ramming into another car belonging to the American embassy.
A witness said Mr. Akpabio was travelling in a convoy of vehicles towards the City Gate when the accident occurred.
The former governor was later hospitalised at the National Hospital in Abuja.
He was discharged Monday evening, and is reported to have travelled abroad for further treatment.

What is FRSC investigating, if the driver disobeyed the traffic light and crashed into another vehicle.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to ask the traffic light on why it gave red signal to stop the ex governor to pass?
The driver has committed a traffic offence and he should be charged. When poor motorists are involved in small accident, they are get arrested by FRSC and charged without invesdtigation. Drivers attached to Nigerian law makers are above the law and therefore have no speed limit.
