Below is a press statement from former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi denying claims that he operates an account with an unnamed bank in Minnesota, USA.
Our attention has been drawn to fake stories making the rounds on the Internet and social media about former Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. The stories are all what they are- concocted and failed attempts to ridicule the person and achievements of Rt. Hon. Amaechi. Our initial reaction was to ignore them, but to clear the doubts of those concerned we have decided to issue this statement.
There is absolutely no truth in fabricated story saying Amaechi has an account with a Bank in Minnesota, USA; same as the concocted write-up alleging that CNN’s Christiane Amanpour accused Amaechi of corruption. They even went ahead to say Amaechi wrote to Bancorp and another bank in Switzerland stating that the said funds were deposited in error. This is absolutely false.
It is important for the public to note that no such account or accounts exists. There is also no story of Amanpour linking the former governor with any corruption issue or case whatsoever, not on CNN or any verified news source or website associated with Amanpour.
These are all lies, concocted in an attempt to put the public against the acclaimed people’s governor whose achievements as governor of Rivers State speaks volumes and drew admiration and accolades from within and outside Nigeria.
All these fictitious stories are the product of the ill imaginations of wicked and unscrupulous people opposed to Amaechi; those jealous and at unease with his continued rise in the country and beyond; those whose life ambition is to pull-Amaechi-down.
We therefore urge the people to discard and disregard the unfounded rumours. They are all fake.

Amaechi would come out of this a strong person if really his hands are clean....no need for accusations the bank is there for all to cross check all the facts....thank God the court has okayed his trial, I wonder if he comes out not guilty all the persons that are cursing both online and physically can still have the morals to say sorry..... He has spoken to the president and the president knows the truth about everything in Rivers state that is why he is still close with him....let the trial begins we are watching
ReplyDeleteAnd if Jonathan's people are cleared by the courts, hope you too can say sorry for all the unfounded stories that you have been peddling. Why won't Buhari be close to Amaechi? He can't do otherwise really. Amaechi single-handedly bankrolled Buhari's campaign. He was alleged to have sold off his state's assets to raise fund for Buhari's election. Buhari would have to be insane not to be close to his benefactor.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you that this is the handy work of Wike and his co-travellers currently occupying the Government House in Rivers State. The supporters of Wike do not know what they are in for, Those who know Wike and his antecedents as a former Local Government Chairman of the most notorious L.G.A. in the country called OBI-AKPOR will recall Wike's notoriety not only as a thug but a rabidly greedy and addictively corrupt individual who make no qualms about stuffing his pocket and those of his lackey with public money. Rivers people will soon find out who the real Wike is when the honeymoon is over...if the tribunal does not put an end to his reign first. It is imperative to conduct a fresh election that is free, fair and peaceful and let Rivers people choose whoever they want so long it is their choice to make and not what we currently have which is a fallout of rigging, violence, intimidation and imposition against the will of the Rivers People. Am not holding any brief for any candidate be it Peterside or whoever, but the people should decide themselves on a level playing ground and live with whatever choices they make after that.

When Buhari probes opposition corrupt persons it's fine, but when another tries to expose those of ruling party like Amaechi, it's witch hunt and wickedness. Is it how high your reasoning go?
